Alba: Don’t lump actresses together
Jessica Alba has credited her husband Cash Warren with helping her get The Honest Company off the ground.
The 34-year-old actress launched her own business, The Honest Company, in 2012. Fellow female thespian Gwyneth also has her own company, lifestyle website Goop and their endeavours are often compared, much to Jessica’s chagrin.
“What I think is unfair is to lump actresses together," she told Allure about being pitted against the Oscar winner. "People aren't lumping Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher together. They do other businesses. I think it's expected that when you get success in one area, you're supposed to evolve and try to do something else – especially in business, and especially if you're a man."
While Jessica is thrilled that they have both been successful with their respective businesses, she doesn’t think female celebrities should be put in a special category because of their sex.
However Jessica does credit one man with helping her turn The Honest Company into a billion-dollar business, her husband Cash Warren.
“Gosh, it really wouldn't be possible without him," she gushed. "He helped me put together my initial business plan. He was always my biggest cheerleader but never gave me unrealistic expectations and never criticized me so much where I felt defeated."
The couple married in 2008 and have two daughters together, seven-year-old Honor and Haven, four. Jessica finds her love for her husband growing with every passing year they spend together.
“Having someone who genuinely has your back, no matter what, there's nothing like that," she added. "It's a real unconditional love ... The partner that you choose to go through life with you, that's your chosen family."
