Alec Baldwin has apparently annoyed members of his church for being so "attention seeking".
The Hollywood star is part of the congregation at Most Holy Trinity Parish in East Hampton. According to the New York Post, parish members are so fed up with Alec that they resorted to ignoring him when he gave a reading at a recent service.
"Alec loves to be the centre of attention and often reads from the pulpit, which really annoys some in the congregation. It is so bad that, one recent Sunday, he went up to read, and part of the congregation stood and rudely turned their backs on him," a source revealed.
Alec has reportedly caused a stir among the regular church-goers with his constant need to take centre stage.
Although he is appreciated for his kindness in the community, the 30 Rock actor is said to annoy many parish members who want to avoid his Hollywood influence.
"Even though he has generously given a lot of money to the town, there are people who just don't like him. He has a need for attention and shows up at every event," the insider continued. "When people go to the church, they don't want to see the movie star up there."
Another source who was at the service when people apparently turned their backs to the star has suggested that they were "staunch Republicans who disagreed with outspoken Baldwin's liberal views."
Alec and his wife Hilaria Thomas are regular parishioners at the church and have a sprawling estate in the area.
