Alec Baldwin: I'm relying on wife for cash

Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin has joked he wants his wife to make all the money now.

The actor has enjoyed great success with TV show 30 Rock, taking home the best TV comedy actor prize at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards for the seventh time yesterday.

With the show coming to a close this week, the 54-year-old has quipped his partner, yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas, will have to become the breadwinner.

"I am looking for work! I'm gonna go do a show on Broadway with Shia LaBeouf and then I'm out of work," he explained to E! Online.

"I want my wife to go to work now! I told her I want her to sell a lot of yoga videos. Get out there! Get going! Go, go!"

30 Rock had a great run at Sunday night's awards do, with Alec's co-star and series creator Tina Fey scooping the best TV comedy actress gong.

The star was pleased for his colleague and believes Tina deserves all the credit for the series' success.

"I was really, really happy that Tina won," he smiled. "In the end, the writing is everything."

Alec's next venture is stage show Orphans, which is set to open in April this year.

It will be Shia's first Broadway performance, but his more experienced co-star is sure the novice has nothing to worry about.

"Shia's never gone on Broadway before, but he's perfect for this part," Alec revealed.

"I don't think he is actually nervous. I mean, I think he is nervous in a healthy way, but he is very conscientious. And the character is him. It's a young, tough, vibrant, alive young man."
