Allwright 'makes people nervous'

Matt Allwright and Chris Hollins present The Food Inspectors

Matt Allwright has said he makes restaurateurs and even estate agents nervous.

The Food Inspectors and Rogue Traders star, who also works on The One Show, has become something of a consumer champion.

Asked how restaurateurs and shopkeepers reacted when he walked in, he said: "People always look nervous when I walk in.

"Even the most innocuous of places, such as estate agents, although that's particularly satisfying.

"I do tend to get that reaction, but that's OK."

Matt, who's back for a second series of The Food Inspectors with co-host Chris Hollins, said his experiences haven't put him off food.

"I really like food! I lived in Japan for three years and the stuff that I ate there would just make your hair curl," he said.

Matt plays in bands at weekends, but he definitely won't be having a career change.

"I love music, but I know I'm not good enough to be able to do it professionally, so like most weekend warriors, I'm just happy to do it to enjoy it."

:: The Food Inspectors continues on BBC One on Wednesdays at 8pm.
