Amanda Bynes: I’m bipolar
Amanda Bynes has taken to Twitter to discuss her health and future plans.
Last month the 28-year-old star was put under a 5150 hold and spent time in hospital after weeks of worrying behaviour. The involuntary hold, used when people are deemed a danger to themselves and others, was lifted on Friday and Amanda was allowed to leave the facility.
During similar circumstances last year her parents Lynn and Rick insisted their daughter had no mental illness and that her problems had been caused by marijuana. However, today Amanda appeared to distance herself from those claims on Twitter.
"I need to get an apartment and my parents won't give me access to any of my funds," she wrote.
"I was diagnosed bi - polar and manic depressive so I'm on medication and I'm seeing my psychologist and pyshchiatrist weekly so I'm fine :D
"I'm not living with my parents
"I'm not legally obligated to (sic)".
Rick and Lynn obtained a conservatorship order over Amanda when she was hospitalised, meaning they control her personal and professional affairs. However, it seems she is unhappy with the arrangement and is already planning ways to have it lifted.
"My lawyer said if I comply with the courts and take my meds and see my psychologist and pyshchiatrist weekly then I will get unconserved (sic)," she added.
This string of comments follows claims the actress made on Twitter at the end of last week, blasting her parents and saying she would take them to court to "fight" them for control of her money. It was Britney Spears' former manager Sam Lutfi who is thought to have helped Amanda's parents get her to hospital, who the star also called out.
"I am going to court today with my lawyer to prove that I am more than capable of handling my personal life and finances and I am enraged," she tweeted in several posts which have now been deleted.
"I got released from the hospital that Sam Lufti and my parents arranged to send me to…
"I am fully capable of taking care of myself and my finances and my parents just want to take (sic)."
Amanda was placed under a 5150 hold last year after a string of worrying incidents, culminating in her lighting a fire in a stranger’s driveway. She was forcibly hospitalised and then spent time in rehab before being released into her parents’ care, who also had a conservatorship over her.
She appeared to be doing well and enrolled on a fashion course, but things spiralled out of control when she was arrested for DUI in September and then accused her father of sexually abusing her.
