Amanda Bynes’ parents ‘absolutely sick with worry’
Amanda Bynes’ parents are taking action to be her conservators after she was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold.
The 27-year-old former child actress is currently under a 5150 hold, which is put in place by authorities when a person is deemed a danger to themselves and others.
Amanda apparently started small fire in a residential driveway in Thousand Oaks, California Monday night and was immediately taken into custody.
Amanda is now undergoing psychiatric evaluation for 72 hours or until medical professionals no longer consider her to be dangerous.
Amanda’s mother and father, Lynn and Rick, are desperately concerned about their child’s mental health and are stepping up their efforts to protect her.
“Her parents are absolutely sick with worry about their daughter,” a source told Radar Online.
“They are now considering going to a judge and attempting to get a conservatorship of Amanda. They have previously met with lawyers to discuss the possibility of taking legal control of Amanda’s life. It’s a truly devastating situation for Amanda’s parents and their biggest concern is the health and safety of her.”
Should her parents stand a chance of becoming Amanda’s conservators they must move swiftly.
Supposedly the clock is ticking in order for this conservatorship to be issued before the star is free from care.
“She could be released whenever doctors determine she is no longer a danger to herself, or others,” the insider added.
“If Rick and Lynn are going to seek a conservatorship, they need to act very, very quickly.”
The actress has been at the centre of a storm of headlines over the last few months. She has repeatedly slammed stars such as Rihanna for being "ugly" on Twitter, has insisted she needs plastic surgery and was arrested after throwing a bong out of a window in New York City. She turned up at a court appearance earlier this month wearing a bright blue wig.
