Amanda Holden thought Susan Boyle was going to do comedy in BGT audition
Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden says she thought Susan Boyle was going to be a stand-up comic when she walked on stage for the first time.
Boyle wowed the judges and crowd with her rendition of the musical hit I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables during her audition in 2009.
The YouTube video of her audition has been viewed over 150 million times to date.
Despite being the favourite to win the show, the Scottish singer ended up in second place behind dance group, Diversity.
Holden said she thinks the show has helped audiences to not "judge a book by its cover".
She said: "We still kind of do, to this day I thought Susan Boyle was going to be a stand-up comic. It still shocks me when I watch it and she opens her mouth and sings."
The popular ITV talent show returns this Saturday, with its first episode set to battle it out against the finale of BBC rival The Voice UK.
Explaining the show's popularity around the world she said: "What we do everyone else then tries to copy, so everyone tries to get the Susan Boyle moment, which was just a natural accident."
:: Britain's Got Talent is broadcast on April 9 at 7pm on ITV.
