Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's reported romance has cooled because the actress "doesn't like the drama".

The 49-year-old actor recently split from Vanessa Paradis after 14 years. Before the pair confirmed they had parted ways, there was speculation linking Johnny to his The Rum Diary co-star Amber. Although Johnny and Amber are believed to have feelings for each other, the 26-year-old blonde is apparently concerned about going public with the romance.

"They were hooking up for months - way before he publicly announced that he and Vanessa had split up. They did a really good job of keeping their relationship on the down low for a while, especially since many people assumed that Amber was only into girls," a source told "She really likes Johnny, but she doesn't like the drama. She isn't really sure what is going to happen with them, but just wants the attention to cool down before anything progresses."

Amber apparently felt uncomfortable being in the public spotlight after she was linked to Johnny. She is also upset about the speculation surrounding the nature of her relationship with the Hollywood star.

"Amber has never wanted that sort of attention. She prides herself on being free-thinking and independent - not some home wrecker... As soon as the media started publicising the romance, she told Johnny that she needed some space," the source added.

"The crazy thing was that Johnny actually split from Vanessa at the end of last year, so she didn't break them up... people were painting her as some kind of scarlet lady, which she is far from being."
