The pair had been dating for more than two years, but Us Weekly reports that things just didn’t work out between them.

“Unfortunately, they just couldn’t make the relationship work with their schedules,” an insider close to the former couple told the publication.

“They really tried, but it just wasn’t realistic anymore. They were spending more time apart than together.”

Amy is busy with three new films, including The House, with Will Ferrell. Nick is also known for his work in the funny field and currently has five new projects in the pipeline.

Us Weekly first broke the news they were dating in May 2013, and it marked Amy’s first relationship since splitting with her husband of nine years, Will Arnett.

“She wanted a comedian who 'gets' her," a source said at the time.

Amy, who has sons Archie, six, and five-year-old Abel with Will, even touched upon the relationship with Nick in her 2014 book Yes Please.

“I have a boyfriend who knows how to settle me. He puts his hand on my chest and tells me boring stories. On one of our first nights together, I woke up apologising for my snoring and he pulled out two earplugs he had worn to bed so he could hear what I was saying. It was one of the most romantic gestures I have ever seen,” she told readers.

Amy recently voiced the emotion Joy in hit Disney Pixar movie Inside Out. While she totally identifies with being happy, the 44-year-old isn’t scared to let sadness in either.

"Yeah, I think that it's always a nice reminder that sadness can be your friend. You know, that it can help you... And so I think about that quite often when I'm feeling conflicted, which emotions are running the show. I think about them now in terms of how they look in the film," she told Cover Media.
