Amy Schumer can't handle being in love
Amy Schumer has praised her boyfriend Ben Hanisch for being so positive and upbeat, considering that she sees herself as an "exhausting" person to date.
Amy Schumer found allowing herself to fall for her boyfriend to be the scariest thing in the world.
The American actress and stand-up comedian has risen to the top of the Hollywood ranks with her unapologetic and unabashed brand of humour, with no topic seemingly off limits in her performances. But it seems the one thing she's yet to come to terms with is the status of relationship with Chicago-based Ben Hanisch, whom she's been dating since January (16).
"Being in love is the scariest thing in the world," she told America's Marie Claire magazine. "You want to f**king cry and scream. I can't handle it. Every time we say goodbye, I think, 'This will have been a nice last week together'."
And Amy, 35, fully admits that she can get a little hung up about her dating life, and often comes up with scenarios in her head whereby she tells herself that Ben's going to leave her. But the star is grateful the furniture designer puts up with her various neuroses, even though she thinks it must be "exhausting" to date her.
The Emmy Award-winner, who was previously been linked to comedian Anthony Jeselnik and professional wrestler Nick Nemeth, adds that she views her relationship with Ben as her first serious romance.
"I feel like Ben is the first guy who's really been my boyfriend. There are guys who, if they heard me say that, would want to punch me in the face, but yeah, it's the truth," she smiled.
Amy also reflected on her past during the interview, including her overnight success with award-winning Comedy Central TV series Inside Amy Schumer and the critical reception of her debut film Trainwreck last year (15), which grossed $140 million (£107 million) at the box office worldwide. But despite appearances, the blonde star asserts that she doesn't have her future mapped out.
"It's such a blur. I don't even remember what I've just done. I'm trying to figure out how to navigate all this. I don't have it down. I. Do. Not," she shared.
