Anastacia stunned by star support

Anastacia has found recording songs for her new album “cathartic”.

This week the 45-year-old announced that she has undergone a double mastectomy after her cancer returned. Anastacia has praised her celebrity pals for their help and kindness during her health battles.

“Sharon, Elton, they have been more than friends, more than respectful in just being tea time buddies. They have been embracing every aspect of giving attention and love when it’s needed,” she told UK TV show Lorraine. “I am so grateful they find the time out of their crazy schedules to even care about how I am feeling and what’s happening to me. It means the world, it really does.”

Anastacia was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 and was given the all clear. The disease returned earlier this year and she was forced to cancel tour dates in February.

She is currently in the final stages of recovery after undergoing a double mastectomy, but believes she made the right decision.

“I’m feeling much better, it has been unbelievable. The ride has been way more intense than I thought but I am so glad to be here,” she said. “I have to say that when I did get diagnosed that I finally had it for the second time, my doctors really advised me to get a mastectomy. I had already thought prior, during my first time with cancer, that I probably would choose a double mastectomy. I was hoping I wouldn’t get it again, but it was one of those things that I had prepared my head for that decision when it was the decision to make.

“Any journey down that road isn’t easy for any female, but you got to do what you got to do, and I am cancer free for it forever. Breast cancer free at least, so it is all worth the struggle.”

Anastacia has been busy recording new material for her sixth studio album recently. Working on songs has helped her cope with her illness and she is thrilled with how the record is shaping up.

“I have to tell you if I didn’t have this album to do it would be much harder,” the star explained. “The cathartic, inspirational songs that have come about in this procedure, this year, let alone the last three years of life, my goodness I am so excited. I was just in the studio today, it’s hard for me, I don’t want to talk about it and say it’s the best album in the world – but it is!”
