Angelina Jolie: Brad and I have our problems
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may appear to have the perfect marriage, but the actress has admitted the couple have their “issues” like anyone else.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have their issues.
The 40-year-old actress and her 51-year-old beau tied the knot in 2014 and appear for all intents and purposes to have the perfect marriage.
However, as she posed for a shoot in America’s Vogue magazine with her children, Angelina admitted the couple suffer from relationship problems like anyone else.
But the actress said she and Brad wouldn’t have been able to star together in upcoming movie By The Sea, which tells the story of a couple who attempt to save their marriage with a holiday to France, if their romance wasn’t secure.
“It's not autobiographical,” she said of the film. “Brad and I have our issues, but if the characters were even remotely close to our problems we couldn't have made the film.
“As artists we wanted something that took us out of our comfort zones. Just being raw actors. It's not the safest idea. But life is short.”
In the accompanying photoshoot for the publication, Angelina looks stunning in a monochrome knitted dress as she poses on a beach for the cover.
Other shots see the actress running along the sands with her children and posing with husband Brad and their brood while sitting atop motorbikes.
Angelina has had a difficult few years, following the discovery that she was a carrier of the BRCA1 gene, meaning she had a high likelihood of contracting breast cancer like her late mother Marcheline.
She made the decision to undergo a double mastectomy and have her ovaries removed to prevent herself from contracting the disease.
While Angelina is thrilled medical advances meant she could undergo the surgeries, she told the magazine she wishes that Marcheline could have had the same options.
“I wish my mom had been able to make those choices,' she said. “They are not easy surgeries. The ovaries are an easy surgery, but the hormone changes - interesting.
“We did joke that I had my Monday edit. Tuesday surgery. Wednesday go into menopause. Thursday come back to edit, a little funky with my steps.”
Now she has gone through menopause and bounced back from her operations, Angelina is looking forward to her future.
She turned 40 in June but doesn’t share the concerns of many women about reaching the landmark age.
Instead, she is looking forward to reaching the next decade of her life.
“Both of the women in my family, my mother and my grandmother started dying in their '40s,” Angelina added. “I'm 40. I can't wait to hit 50 and know I made it.”
