Ansel Elgort offers date prize

Ansel Elgort is hoping to make a difference by asking for an unusual 21st birthday gift.

The actor is one of the many stars celebrating World Water Day, which is supported by the United Nations.

To fete his 21st birthday, which was on March 14, Ansel has decided to ask for an unusual gift. Working with fundraising platform Prizeo, he’s asking fans to raise money and promised that one lucky winner will go on a lunch date with him.

“It's WORLD WATER DAY. Do you wana make a difference and have a chance to win a lunch date with me? You can! (sic),” he wrote on Twitter.

He added a link to the Prizeo page, where hopefuls can find out more.

“So here's what I'm saying: if you do this with me, you can help save lives AND earn yourself a chance to win a trip to join me for a lunch date, on location, for one of my upcoming projects,” he writes.

“We'll have so much fun together! You can bring a friend, and I'll get you roundtrip flights from anywhere in the world and hotel accommodations for both of you.”

Ansel isn’t alone in his efforts. The Life Water UK charity also worked with a host of A-listers to support the cause. It promised 100 gallons of clean water for every retweet achieved by the likes of Kourtney Kardashian and Adele.

Meanwhile, Mia Farrow tweeted that changing the world is “possible”.

“Everyone should have access to clean water. Let's make a difference this #WorldWaterDay w/ #WaterNow @WorldVisionUSA (sic),” Britney Spears wrote.

Others to support the cause on social media included Harry Styles, Alexa Chung and Candice Swanepoel.
