Anthony McPartlin has said that despite winning a National Television Award for the 11th year in a row with TV partner Declan Donnelly, he had been "more nervous this year than ever before".

He said: "One day the run will come to the end but we're just thrilled it's not today."

The Geordie joked they had "probably picked up a few more trophies" than their football team, Newcastle United.

Dec also praised the cast of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! which won the best reality show award. He said: "It's all down to these guys".

Asked if they would ever join in and take part in a bushtucker trial, Ant said: "Not a bloody chance."

Celebrating his best actor gong, Doctor Who star Matt Smith said he was in no hurry to join sidekick Karen Gillan in exiting the show. He said: "I sort of always knew that me and Karen would have slightly different journeys in the show."

He added the show was "bigger than all" of its cast and would have a "life after" he leaves.

Smith also said he was interested in moving behind the camera and directing a film and was not worried about being typecast by the role of the Doctor. He said: "As long as you're worth your salt as an actor you'll be all right."

Alan Carr was delighted to win the chat show gong and said the secret of his success was giving his guests a drink. He said: "They do open up with a Lambrini."

X Factor judges Tulisa and Gary Barlow looked both shocked and ecstatic about their show's NTA win. Gary said that for all those working on the programme it "becomes like a family".
