Anthea Turner's ex Grant Bovey may have stayed if they'd had kids
Anthea Turner doesn't regret her marriage to cheating ex husband Grant Bovey.
Anthea Turner found it "painful" to hear her ex-husband Grant Bovey may not have cheated if they'd had children together.
The former couple met while they were both married to their ex partners and made their romance official in 1998, the same year Anthea divorced DJ Peter Powell.
In 2012, Anthea and Grant split after he had an affair with a younger woman and following a brief reconciliation, the couple officially divorced in 2015.
Insisting she regrets the pain she and Grant caused to others during the early days of their relationship, Anthea reflected on the end of her second union to Hello! magazine.
"I can understand why some people think I got my comeuppance when my relationship then went on to deteriorate in the way it did," she sighed. "But I loved Grant, and I can't regret the 15 years we had together. There were some very happy times.
"I did once ask him if he would have stayed if we'd had our own children, to which he replied, 'Possibly.' I shall never know, of course, but I can't pretend that wasn't painful to hear. It was a double blow, I guess."
Anthea, who turned 57 last month (May17), underwent IVF treatment during her time with Grant but was unable to fall pregnant and have a child of her own. Grant, 56, has three daughters from his first marriage.
The former Blue Peter star also recalled how she was tipped off about her husband's cheating, admitting she began checking up on him.
"I promise I never used to be, but unfortunately his behaviour turned me into her. It didn't take me long to collect my ammunition and sure enough, as I'd suspected, Grant was back seeing the other woman," she sighed.
She's back in a good place now, noting 2017 is the first year she has "woken up and felt normal, and not lost."
