Anthony Mackie: 'I can't look cool!'
Anthony Mackie finds it a challenge to make stunts look cool in his superhero movies.
Anthony Mackie doesn't do all his own stunts because he struggles to "look cool" when trying to pull them off.
The Hurt Locker actor has played Sam Wilson, also known as Falcon, in four movies, including Captain America: Civil War. Despite now being used to the role, Anthony, 37, still hasn't perfected the art of making stunts look cool and he regularly ruins them by pulling a goofy face at the camera.
Falcon uses mechanical wings to fly and help Chris Evans' Captain America defeat the bad guys so Anthony spends a lot of time suspended in wires, and his shortcomings in the stunt department provide endless entertainment to members of the film crew.
"It's funny, when I do my stunts, it's like comical so if people hear I'm doing my stunts everybody comes to the set to laugh because I suck at it," Anthony explains to U.S. talk show host Stephen Colbert.
"I try to do all of them (stunts) but it never works out... it ain't about being fit, it's just my face. When I see the camera I...", Anthony adds before pulling a goofy face.
He credits his stuntman Aaron Toney for making him look good in stunts, before challenging the audience to try and look cool on camera.
"When you guys go home look in the mirror and practice looking cool or take your phone out and just take a five second video of yourself and think cool," he jokes. "You will look dumb as anybody in the world. I can't look cool."
During the interview on Wednesday (04May16), Anthony also revealed that he still lives in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana because it is "the best city in the world" and he once gave New York a try but "couldn't handle" it.
Captain America: Civil War, which is already showing in the U.K., is released in the U.S. on Friday (06May16).
