Arquette: Fatherhood is beautiful
David Arquette says he’s looking forward to playing catch with his son.
The 42-year-old actor is expecting a child with girlfriend Christina McLarty.
Walking the red carpet together at The Art of Elysium's 7th Annual HEAVEN Gala in Los Angeles, David said he plans to apply all he’s learned from his nine-year-old daughter with ex-wife Courteney Cox to raising his new baby boy.
"I’ve done it once. It’s all new, but it’s all beautiful,” he told Us Weekly, adding that he’s looking forward to "playing catch, making [his son] laugh, and seeing my girlfriend Christina being a mother for the first time and all the joy and love that it’s going to bring her and me."
Although the actor is known for his oddball behaviour, he insisted the boy’s name won’t be “too quirky”.
"I think we will go with something a little more traditional," he said.
Christina, who made the appearance in a plunging black gown, is believed to be about six months along. The TV presenter has been dating David on and off for about two years following his split from Courteney in 2010.
The former couple were married for 11 years, but Courteney recently insisted they remain good friends.
“He's my best friend in the world...I love him. I appreciate David more now than I ever did," she told US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres shortly before their divorce was finalised in April.
"I think we both appreciate each other more. I hope he does. I do. I mean, it's hard. I don't recommend divorce in general, but, you know, he is my best friend and we've both grown and changed."
She also recently opened up to the comedienne about their blended family.
"It's a very unique relationship. All of us like literally, me and Christina and David and Coco," she said. "It's great though."
