Ashley Greene: Date speculation is tough

Ashley Greene

Ashley Greene is tired of being accused of "hooking up" with people after one date.

The Twilight actress says the downside of being single in the public eye is the continuous speculation that surrounds her love life. The constant paparazzi attention makes it difficult to have a normal relationship with someone.

"Imagine going out with a girl one night, then the next day she's like, 'We're hooking up! This is serious!'" Ashley explains to Nylon magazine. "It's this overload of someone saying, 'This is what this is, even though we've only been on one date and I don't even know your middle name.' Everything has a title immediately."

Being labelled in her personal life is something Ashley can't avoid. However, in her career she is careful to avoid typecasting herself as she doesn't want to affect her chances of securing future acting roles.

As the successful Twilight saga comes to an end, the 25-year-old has reminisced about her character Alice Cullen. She feels lucky to have portrayed someone who bears little resemblance to who she actually is.

"It's not like, 'Oh, you're the quirky best friend-slash-sister.' There's no stereotype with Alice. And she doesn't really look anything like me, with the pixie cut and the white make-up. So to be put in a box, I'd kind of have to do it myself. And I'm not going to do that," she said.

Ashley has learnt some important life lessons about people from her experience living in Los Angeles. The brunette beauty had it easy while she was growing up and has experienced a surprisingly tough learning curve as an actress.

"Growing up, I didn't have a hard life," she said. "Luckily, people are not the greatest in L.A., so once I got here and my heart was broken and people stabbed me in the back, I could use that to feel vulnerable."

Ashley appears in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 alongside Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart, which hits theatres in November 2012.
