Ashley Walters to face racist abuse trial in May
Actor and musician Ashley Walters is to face trial for alleged racist abuse in May.
Appearing at London's Blackfriars Crown Court, Walters, wearing a navy suit, spoke only to confirm his name and that he understood the conditions of his bail, which state he must not enter or loiter outside the Hilton Hotel in Islington, north London.
The formal charges will be read to the former So Solid Crew member on February 18 and his trial is scheduled to start in the week beginning May 9.
The 33-year-old has indicated not guilty pleas to three charges of using threatening, abusive or insulting language with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress on May 3. One of the charges relates to a racially aggravated offence.
Walters, who plays an officer in BBC police drama Cuffs, allegedly called a hotel receptionist a "white bitch" and threatened her manager.
