Avril Lavigne's new fiance Chad Kroeger has revealed he isn't too worried about what people think of their surprise engagement.
The Nickelback frontman popped the question to the Sk8r Boi singer last month after they met earlier this year.
And he told People: "I try not to take too much interest in the world's opinion of our relationship. I just know the both of us are very happy."
The Canadian pair officially started dating on July 1, and Chad said they both love that fact because it is Canada Day.
"We think it's very cool that our anniversary will always be on Canada Day."
The 37-year-old added that he and Avril "can't wait to start our life together".
Avril, 27, split from Brody Jenner earlier this year. Her marriage to first husband Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley ended in 2009 after three years of marriage.
