Avril Lavigne gets 'dream' engagement ring

Avril Lavigne

Chad Kroeger created Avril Lavigne's "dream" engagement ring.

The stars have announced they are planning to get married after dating for six months. Details of the ring Nickelback rocker Chad used to propose to his sweetheart have now been revealed. The 37-year-old chose a custom made band designed by Beverly Hills jeweller Caryn Alpert. Pop star Avril was apparently stunned by the sparkler, which exceeded all her expectations.

"We helped Chad custom create Avril's dream ring: a platinum-set pear-shape diamond with half moons totalling 14 carats from XIVKARATS in Beverly Hills," Caryn revealed to People. "What a perfect pair/pear!"

The 27-year-old singer is said to be over the moon with Chad's proposal. Avril can't stop beaming and her friends and family are equally pleased the star has found love again following her divorce from Deryck Whibley.

"[Avril] is glowing," a source told People. "Just looking at them, you can see how much he adores her."
