Barrymore: I’m going to be there for my kids
Drew Barrymore says mothers are her “Achilles’ Heel”.
The Wedding Singer star gave birth to daughter Frankie last month with husband Will Kopelman. The couple already have a 19-month-old little girl called Olive and the star is over the moon with her family unit.
“It's great, couldn't be better," she told Us Weekly "I couldn't fake it, I'm really happy, and everything is just as good as it could possibly be."
Drew hasn’t had much time in the way of maternity leave as she is currently promoting her latest movie, Blended, which co-stars Adam Sandler. In the film the 39-year-old plays a single mum and the role struck a chord with the star, who had a turbulent childhood herself, even declaring her independence from her parents when she was just 15-years-old.
“[There] is a girl in this movie that needs a mom," she explained of Bella Thorne's character Hilary in the movie. "I can relate to that. I had times in my life when I really needed a mom. I am now a mom. I am going to be there for my kids. Moms are my Achilles' Heel, emotionally speaking. The mother is that emotional figure for all of us."
The Never Been Kissed star had the chance to celebrate her first Mother’s Day with both her daughters at the weekend. But with two young children to tend to, she admits she didn’t have the energy to do anything fancy to mark the occasion.
“Sweatpants, Game of Thrones, take out," she added to People magazine with a laugh. "Because we were just too tired."
