Barrymore’s ‘driving force’

Drew Barrymore is thankful for her family, as parenthood keeps her centred.

The 39-year-old actress-and-producer shares daughters Olive, two, and Frankie, eight months, with husband Will Kopelman.

And parenthood has altered her perspective dramatically.

“It’s amazing. It’s the driving force behind how I live my life,” she told People magazine.

Drew isn’t interested in taking on too many acting projects anymore.

With two small children to raise, the star would rather stay at home with them.

“The acting has to be less and less because it’s too time-consuming. I love it and I don’t want to abandon it, but it can’t be at the forefront right now,” she explained.

Drew loves working on her cosmetic line Flower Beauty though, as this professional pursuit “allows [her] to be a great mom”.

But the stunning blonde confesses sometimes her two girls compete for attention.

“It’s a balance of who gets the attention, and it’s a tightrope,” Drew noted. “But it’s also a wonderful, amazing journey to raise two kids that love each other.”

Drew didn’t drop her pregnancy weight immediately after giving birth.

She put in lots of effort to slim down.

“It took nine months to build. It should take nine months to get off,” Drew said. “I wanted fettuccini alfredo. I didn’t want a barbell.

“I was like, ‘Don’t talk to me about how fast and fabulous you are or it came off. That was not my experience. I’m having to work my a** off until I even think about getting it off.”
