Drew Barrymore has opened up about the death of her half-sister.

Jessica Barrymore was found unresponsive in her car "surrounded by white pills" in California, on the eve of her 48th birthday, according to local station 10News. The Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed her identity to the station.

The 50 First Dates actress issued a statement about her older sibling, telling Entertainment Tonight: "Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible and I'm so incredibly sorry for their loss."

Drew and Jessica are both daughters of the actor John Barrymore.

An autopsy is scheduled to fully determine her cause of death.
