Becks: Harper calls me chubby!
David Beckham thought he was in good shape until his three-year-old daughter gave him a stark warning.
The 39-year-old former soccer star and his wife Victoria are parents to Brooklyn, 15, Romeo, 12, nine-year-old Cruz and toddler Harper. While David's buff body has won him female fans all over the world, his tot isn't quite as impressed by what she sees.
"My little girl turned around to me the other day, I'd just bathed her and I was in the bath as well, so I got her out and was towelling her down, and she said, 'Daddy, I love you so much, but I don't like you, you're so chubby,'" he told US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. "I mean, I didn't think I was, but you know... I hope she [doesn't know what it means]!"
David retired from professional soccer in 2013 and he and his family moved from Los Angeles back to London, UK. Although he doesn't have sport to fill his time anymore, that doesn't mean he can lounge at home. Instead he is occupied with running the children around to school and other activities, joking he's become an Uber taxi driver overnight.
While some parents wouldn't enjoy that, David relishes having so much time with his family. He spent a lot of time away from them when he was playing soccer all over the world, so being around so much is a new experience for him.
The kids aren't quite so excited about it though. They have set down strict parameters for how he is allowed to behave within their presence - not that David listens.
"The younger one obviously loves me taking her to school, the two smaller boys they love it, apart from my middle son Romeo, he's 12, he's just started - as soon as I take him into school I go to kiss him and he'll turn his cheek so I will then pick him up and give him a bear hug and kiss him in front of his friends," he laughed. "So that happens with him."
Brooklyn is also not as excited about the prospect of being seen with his super famous father. Victoria recently reminded their kids that David is a "cool dad", but apparently that changed nothing.
"I take [Brooklyn] to school and he says to me, 'Daddy, park around the corner.' Sorry, 'Dad, park around the corner.' Not daddy! He's past that," David laughed. "And then he gets out and he walks around to his school. So he did it to me the other day after doing it about five times on the trot, so I'm driving around and he's just walking into school and I opened the window and said, 'Brooklyn, I love you!' Obviously it didn't go down very well."
