Ben Affleck: I pretend to be sporty
Ben Affleck can't believe he's the kind of father who offers sporting advice to his kids.
The Gone Girl star has three kids with his wife Jennifer Garner; Violet, eight, Seraphina, five, and two-year-old Samuel. Ben is keen to support his children in their activities, but it dawned on him recently that he has become overly competitive on their behalf.
"My oldest daughter started playing basketball and I'm already that guy," he admitted to Jimmy Fallon. "You remember in Parenthood, Ron Howard's brother was yelling at the kid from the sideline? That's me. I'm like, 'Bend your knees!' I don't even know if you should bend your knees, I’m terrible at basketball!"
While he takes an interest in their hobbies, the children don't always return the sentiment. Most kids would be thrilled to know their dad is Batman, but the 42-year-old's offspring were somewhat underwhelmed when he was announced as the next caped crusader.
"Despite the fact that I'm playing Batman now, people would say, 'Are your kids into it?' The truth is, [they're] not,” he explained. “If I was doing the sequel to Frozen I would be a hero. My two older daughters could give a sh*t about Batman and they've now passed that affection onto my son. He's always like, 'Papa, can I watch Frozen?' And I'm like, 'No, dude, it's not on again!'"
Ben thought he had come up with an alternative to having the film on a loop by finding shorter clips online. One happened to be host Jimmy singing Let It Go with the film's star Idina Menzel, but it led to more issues with his son.
"He loves it and he wants me to sing along. I can't tell my son that I can't sing," he said. "So I just [mumble] and he's like, 'No Papa, do it like the man!' I was like, 'First of all, I'm your father, OK? Jimmy Fallon's not the man - I'm the man!'"
