Ben Price wants to be kept in the dark over Coronation Street exit
Ben Price is planning a leaving party because he will be too emotional to celebrate his exit.
Ben Price doesn't want to know how he will be written out of Coronation Street.
The 45-year-old announced in January (17) he was quitting the soap after playing Nick Tilsley for seven years because he wanted to spend more time with his wife Alexandra and their children Paloma and Max.
Ben will be written out of the programme in another explosive plot twist, which will reportedly air this summer (17), and he has been approached by producers about his exit storyline but the actor admits he would rather remain in the dark and see how his character's story plays out.
"I don’t want to know (how it ends)," he explained on TV show This Morning on Wednesday (22Feb17). "(Producer) Kate (Oates) wanted to tell me and I said don’t tell me, let’s just see how it rolls out. She’s been amazing, just fantastic, understood exactly why I had to go.”
Ben, who couldn't reveal when his final scenes would air, added he didn't give any input about his exit storyline and has put Nick's fate at the hands of the producers. He explained, "It’s their show. Whatever serves the show best.”
The actor, who is also known for TV shows Footballers' Wives and Casualty, is also not planning to celebrate his departure with a leaving party because he will be too emotional.
Ben made the "big decision" because he was missing his family, who he could only see on Saturdays due to his filming schedule and the distance between the show's set and his family home.
"I live 200 miles away, I see my wife and children on a Saturday and I go back on a Sunday," he explained. "I’ve just got to go home. I lose one family and I gain my family back and I think that’s a perfect trade.”
