Bill Murray checks in at Cannes
Bill Murray has stunned in a patchwork jacket and check trousers at the Cannes Film Festival.
The actor is at the prestigious movie event to promote his release Moonrise Kingdom, which is directed by Wes Anderson. The film is opening the 65th annual festival tonight and there was a degree of uncertainty about whether Bill would be there.
"Bill usually enjoys a festival," Wes told USA Today. "I'm expecting him."
It seems the filmmaker won't be disappointed as Bill has already appeared in Cannes. He was pictured with his co-star Tilda Swinton but eschewed the usual smart dress favoured by stars at the event.
Instead, Bill donned white, loose-fitting, trousers with a blue and yellow check pattern. He paired the summer pants with a shirt in the same fabric, wearing a multi-coloured patchwork jacket over the top. The look was finished with grey and blue boat shoes and dark sunglasses.
In contrast, Tilda picked a cornflower blue silk dress with a cappuccino coloured chiffon shirt over the top.
Bill doesn't always tell movie bosses if he is attending events - he reportedly books his own transport so it is never known if he'll be there.
Wes has appeared at the Cannes Film Festival with Bill in the past, recalling one time which he will never forget.
"I turned around and saw him dancing with the woman that owned the restaurant [when we went out]," Wes smiled.
"But he was holding her upside down. It happened so suddenly. I think she was processing that she was being held like that."
The director is looking forward to equally as exciting shenanigans this time around.
"It's not my place to unleash him, I don't think he's ever been leashed," Wes laughed. "He's a free spirit."
