Bill Murray's marriage advice for stag

Bill Murray offered marital advice to a groom-to-be

Bill Murray dished out marital advice to the groom-to-be when he accidentally crashed his stag do.

The Lost In Translation star was eating at a steak house in Charleston, South Carolina when he was approached by the group of 20 people, who had gathered to celebrate their friend EJ Rumpke's impending nuptials, reported The Concourse.

One friend asked the 63-year-old actor if he would congratulate the groom but was initially turned down - instead Bill later walked up to the group and offered his tips on marriage.

"Don't just sort of think in your ordinary mind, you think, 'OK let's plan a date, let's make a party and get married'," began the twice-married star.

"Buy a plane ticket for the two of you to travel all around the world and go to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of, and if, when you come back to JFK (airport), when you land in JFK and you're still in love with that person, get married at the airport."

Groom-to-be EJ told E! News: "He was an awesome guy. As soon as he came into the room we were all zoned in on listening to every word he said. He asked the group a few questions then jumped right in to his advice about travelling the world."

He said he would take Bill's words to heart, adding: "I've spent four amazing years with [my fiancee] and wouldn't have it any other way. Hopefully we can travel the world together in the future and renew our vows when we land at JFK."
