Miley Cyrus' father Billy Ray is thrilled the singer is engaged.
The 19-year-old star accepted 22-year-old Liam Hemsworth's proposal on May 31.
The couple had dated for three years but the news still came as a surprise due to their ages.
The Achy Breaky Heart singer couldn't like his future son-in-law more.
"Liam's a great guy. I like Liam a lot," Billy Ray told ET Canada.
The country music star explained that Liam sought his approval before popping the question.
And as long as his daughter is happy, Billy Ray has no complaints about the young couple's plans to wed.
"The main thing for me is that both of them are happy," he said. "She and I always had a mantra, and the mantra was: if you ain't happy, it ain't working."
Miley isn't planning a walk down the aisle anytime soon, however.
She recently revealed they want a lengthy engagement.
"Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with," she told Marie Claire magazine in August. "I don't really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we've made to each other."
