Blake Lively has posted an Instagram shot of herself breastfeeding.

The 27-year-old welcomed daughter James with husband Ryan Reynolds in December last year. The star is juggling motherhood with her acting career but it isn't always as stressful as it sounds.

"The PERKS of breastfeeding (sic)" she wrote on Instagram alongside an image of her breastfeeding her little girl.

In the snap, Blake displays her enviable cleavage in a purple bikini top in front of a tropical cave pool, focused intently on James who is out of shot. The former Gossip Girl's hair tumbles over her shoulder in the image, but the idyllic scene had one small issue which Blake was happy to point out to her followers.

"#YesThatsRiceInMyHair #BlondevsBronde #BrondeJamesBronde (sic)" she added about a tiny grain sticking out near her temple.

Blake is the latest in a long line of celebrities who have shared pictures of themselves breastfeeding on social media sites, with supermodels Gisele Bündchen and Miranda Kerr as well as actress Alyssa Milano also posting similar snaps.

The Age of Adaline actress spoke about the importance of breastfeeding in the May issue of Allure.

"I’m, like, driving down the road, pumping," she joked.

Blake also spoke seriously about the concept of "having it all" with the publication.

"Most of the things I do are all-consuming, but somehow I find a way to do it all," she said. "It’s not having it all; it’s about doing it all, but it’s dangerous to dilute that to a catchphrase... Having it all could be having a happy, healthy family, and you could be a mom who stays at home, and that is the most admirable thing you could do. Or it could be having a profession that you really believe in, and not having a family, and doing what fulfils you."
