Blanchett arranging marriages with Damon

Cate Blanchett and Matt Damon want to set up their children romantically.

The 44-year-old actress and her The Talented Mr. Ripley co-star both appear in upcoming movie The Monuments Men, which George Clooney directs and also stars in.

Since working on the 1999 thriller film Cate has had three sons - Dashiell John, Roman Robert and Ignatius Martin - with her husband Andrew Upton.

Matt too became a father to daughters Isabella, Gia Zavala and Stella with his wife Luciana Barroso - who also has daughter Alexia from a previous marriage.

It was this common ground which sparked an idea between the pair as they were catching up.

"We talked a lot about the intervening years, during which I have been raising three sons and he has been raising three daughters. There are several arranged marriages waiting to be put into action," Cate joked to British newspaper The Telegraph.

This is also the second time the blonde beauty has teamed up with George after having both appeared in 2006 war feature The Good German. Their latest project is also centred around war and Cate's husband couldn't help but address the on-going theme.

"My husband said, 'What is it with you and George and the Second World War?'" she mused.

Earlier this month Cate scooped the best actress Golden Globe Award for her role in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine.

When recalling the night she admitted it feels like a blur.

"Unfortunately my category came up rather late in the evening so I was a couple of sheets to the wind," she giggled. "Once your name is read out it's a high like no other so I can't remember a lot. I hope I didn't do too many things I'll regret. The Globe is in the hotel room and my sons made a little shrine for it with all the flowers that I have been receiving for the past week that are now dead."
