Blue Peter accolade for Morph man

The man behind clay character Morph picked up a gold Blue Peter badge in honour of more than 40 years of award winning animation.

Peter Lord, the co-owner of animation firm Aardman, has also helped create Wallace And Gromit and Shaun The Sheep.

Morph made his TV debut in 1977 in the children's BBC programme Take Hart alongside presenter Tony Hart and was a regular fixture on television throughout two decades.

He currently features i n 15 new mini-adventures on his own YouTube channel and CBBC.

Mr Lord joins the likes of the Queen, David Beckham, and JK Rowling on the list of gold badge owners.

Blue Peter editor Ewan Vinnicombe said: "The Blue Peter audience love watching and creating their own animations. We are delighted to award Peter his gold badge nearly 35 years after his first appearance on Blue Peter.

"Peter has created some of the most well-known animated characters including of course Morph, who had a starring role on today's show."

Accepting his badge, Mr Lord said: "This is fantastic. It's a dream come true."
