People are being offered the chance to live in the school which hosted the award-winning TV series Waterloo Road.
The classrooms where the BBC1 drama - which counts Strictly Come Dancing runner-up Chelsee Healey among its cast - was filmed in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, are available as temporary low-budget accommodation before their planned demolition later this year to make way for a housing development.
Six "guardians" will move into the former Hilltop Primary School in Kirkholt at a cost of £180 per month to deter squatters and vandals.
The Dutch model provides affordable accommodation for local working people and at the same time cuts down security costs for the property owners.
Andrew Schofield, branch manager at Ad Hoc Property Management Ltd, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for people in the Rochdale area to find unique and spacious accommodation for a fraction of what they would usually expect to pay.
"By living in the properties our Guardians safeguard it against criminality. This creates a win-win situation for Guardian and property owner."
Waterloo Road was filmed in Rochdale for six years before production was moved to Scotland.
A spokesman for the building's owner, Rochdale Borough Council, said: "The land is earmarked for housing as part our long-term redevelopment plan for Kirkholt."
