Brad Pitt 'cleans up poop'

Brad Pitt found himself cleaning up dog mess before he attended the Academy Awards.

The handsome actor accepted the Oscar for Best Picture for 12 Years a Slave at last night's lavish ceremony, alongside director Steve McQueen and other cast and crew of the critically acclaimed movie.

Looking suave in a black tux and crisp white shirt, 50-year-old Brad revealed it was a different story earlier in the day, when the star found himself on his hands and knees cleaning up mutt muck.

"I cleaned up dog poop today. In my bedroom," Brad laughed backstage, reports the New York Daily News.

The movie scooped a further two Oscars, bagging Lupita Nyong'o the supporting actress prize and also taking home the Adapted Screenplay award.

Brad, who was one of the producers on the movie as well as starring in it, couldn't stop himself gushing about the film while also joking that Steve was his date for the night.

He also wasn't shy about pointing out the lessons moviegoers should garner from watching the feature.

"I love this movie. It's a heroic story of a man in an inhumane situation trying to get back to his family.

"It's important that we understand our history, not for any kind of guilt, but so we can better understand who we were, so we can better understand who we are.

"At the end of the day, we just hope this film remains a gentle reminder that we're all equal, we all want the same - we want dignity and opportunity for ourselves and our family. And that another's freedom is every bit as important as our own," he explained.

Other mishaps of the evening included Jennifer Lawrence tripping up, for the second year in a row.

The American Hustle beauty is no stranger to embarrassing slips, and laughed off her clumsy fall at the beginning of the night, saying she falls all the time.

“I don’t know how it happened so fast. I wasn’t even at the press yet,” Jennifer smiled to Access Hollywood. “But there was a cone outside my car and yeah, I ran over the cone."

"I’m afraid that like... I got so scared and I hope nobody took a picture, because I’m afraid it’s going start looking like a gimmick!"
