Brad Pitt on red carpet ‘nutter’
Brad Pitt has spoken publicly for the first time about being attacked on the red carpet by Vitalii Sediuk last week.
The 50-year-old actor was attending the Los Angeles premiere of Maleficent with his fiancée Angelina Jolie on Wednesday May 28 and during the event he was assaulted by Ukrainian media personality Vitalii Sediuk on the red carpet.
Brad spoke out publicly for the first time following the event in a statement released on Monday.
"I was at the end of the line signing autographs, when out the corner of my eye I saw someone stage-diving over the barrier at me,” the star recalled in the press release issued to People magazine. “I took a step back; this guy had latched onto my lapels. I looked down and the nutter was trying to bury his face in my crotch, so I cracked him twice in the back of the head – not too hard – but enough to get his attention, because he did let go. I think he was then just grabbing for a hand hold because the guys were on him, and he reached up and caught my glasses."
Last Friday Vitalii was sentenced to 20 days of community labour and 36 months of summary probation after pleading no contest to charges of battery and unlawful activity at a sporting or entertainment event, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
He has also surprised celebrities in the past including Will Smith, Bradley Cooper and Leonardo DiCaprio by running at them on the red carpet and the man most recently looked up America Ferrera’s skirt at Cannes Film Festival.
Brad warns Vitalii what he is doing could cause him harm.
"I don't mind an exhibitionist, but if this guy keeps it up he's going to spoil it for the fans who have waited up all night for an autograph or a selfie, because it will make people more wary to approach a crowd,” the actor said.
“And he should know, if he tries to look up a woman's dress again, he's going to get stomped."
