Brad Pitt is reportedly "caught in the middle" of his mother and Angelina Jolie.
Brad and his fiancée Angelina are famously pro-gay marriage, having previously insisted they will only tie the knot when it is legal for all couples to do so in America.
The Hollywood actor's mother Jane recently hit the headlines when she penned an open letter slamming US President Barack Obama for his acceptance of homosexual unions. It is said to have infuriated Angelina.
"Her letter publicly denouncing homosexuals undermines all the work they've done over the years to fight against sad opinions like this. It's tearing them apart as Brad's caught in the middle," a source told Look magazine.
Angelina and Jane are thought to have had a troubled relationship in the past.
Brad met the actress while he was shooting 2005 movie Mr & Mrs Smith and at the time he was married to Jennifer Aniston.
It's been claimed Jane was unsure of Angelina during the beginning of her and Brad's romance due to the way they were introduced.
