Russell Brand has declared himself "quite well" following his recent split from Katy Perry.
Russell fielded several questions about the separation during a press conference to promote his forthcoming US comedy tour Strangely Uplifting, MTV reported.
He tried to change the subject and also questioned whether the split was newsworthy.
Asked how he was coping, he said: "[I am] quite well, thank you. Are you asking because of recent events? Well I suppose what you're doing is you're making the mistake of seeing time as linear.
"The brilliant American author Kurt Vonnegut, he'll tell ya that if you imagine reality as experienced simultaneously, events become redundant."
The Arthur actor added that the matter was between him and his friends and family, saying: "I don't want to further celebrate the overly elaborate, brittle plastic structures of nonsense that are constantly fired into our minds to distract us from what's really important.
"So if I'd done something actually newsworthy... then I'd cover it. But if it was just more lacquered nonsense, designed to distract us from truth, then I would wisely ignore it."
