Brandon Flowers: The Killers have big plans

Brandon Flowers has promised fans he and his The Killers bandmates are talking about making a new album.

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Brandon Flowers has vowed The Killers will turn things on their head on their new record, which they have started working on.

The US group’s last album Battle Born was released in 2012 and since then Brandon has been working on solo material, with The Desired Effect out in May (15). He has promised fans he is already talking to his bandmates Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. about getting back into the studio, with plans already afoot.

“We’re in motion, for sure. We’re starting to talk and looking at where we are going to rehearse and write… the wheels are turning,” he told NME.

“We’re thinking of switching it up. I think we definitely need to do something different. We need to turn it on its head a little bit."

Brandon has been in the group since it began in 2001 and music is where his heart lies. This is why he’s created albums on his own over the years – if the guys he plays with feel like taking a break he’s happy to make his own kind of sound.

“I love making records and I love performing," he explained in the video interview. “If The Killers want to make a record then (I would). That’s me, that’s a big part of my identity.

“I’m not putting anything against anybody, it’s just when I make a solo record that means some of them don’t want to make a record right now.”

The Killers might not have released new music for several years, but they have achieved a great deal while together. That includes four top-selling albums and 22 million worldwide sales, with Brandon believing people should be more in awe of those statistics.

“Whether the people want to accept it or not, we might be the best band in the last long time!" he told Britain’s The Independent newspaper in May (15). “I'd go up any night against just about any band that's come out in the last 15 years. Not that it's a competition, but I do feel sometimes people don't have a grasp on what we've accomplished and what we've acquired. Everyone should come see The Killers!”
