The internet is outraged at this picture of a wedding guest proposing to his girlfriend - right in front of the bride and groom at their reception.

The couple upstaged the newlyweds as they toasted their big day with champagne, an occasion when they could reasonably expect all attention to be on them.

A Reddit user uploaded the photograph and it has since been viewed a staggering 1.4 million times.

The man is seen down on one knee with a ring in his hand, gazing up at his surprised and emotional girlfriend.

In the background the bride can be seen grinning at the couple as they steal her thunder.

The picture has attracted over 1,000 comments, ranging from the funny: "This is up there with my uncle giving my cousins a puppy at my birthday party", to the enraged: "They've got one day which us all about them, you jerk".

One commenter has a suggestion for revenge: "Just announce your pregnancy at their wedding. Fire with fire, yo."
