Britney Spears insists singing hopefuls "have to learn" from their failed ventures.
The international superstar is on the judging panel of the US version of hit TV talent show The X Factor, alongside Demi Lovato, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.
Britney knows how hard it is to forge a career in the music industry.
"I think in this industry there are so many auditions that you go on. There are so many that you don't get and there are some that you do get. I reckon it's just kind of the way of the industry and you have to learn from it," she told the UK version of OK! magazine.
Britney is aware that even the most talented of performers suffer setbacks along the way. The star - who has come under some harsh criticism in the past - says artists should develop a thick skin if they want to reach the top.
"You just have to ignore it," she said of the negative feedback she has endured throughout her own successful career.
