Britney Spears is quitting the US X Factor, according to reports.
TMZ said the judge, who faced criticism for her performance on the show, wanted to focus on her music, while The Hollywood Reporter claimed that the writing was already on the wall for the pop star.
"Britney loves Simon, she likes Demi Lovato but her thing is music," an anonymous source told TMZ.
The Hollywood Reporter said it had got word from an insider that the singer would not have been asked back for season three.
It claimed Britney, who apparently bagged 15 million dollars to judge the second series along with Simon Cowell, LA Reid and Demi, had not been given official word on her future on the show. But the website cited a double-digit dip in ratings, her performance on the live shows and media criticism.
Broadcaster Fox was not commenting on the report.
Fellow judge LA Reid has previously announced his exit, meaning X Factor USA bosses could have two judging vacancies.
