Miley Cyrus surprised Britney Spears with birthday balloons.

Britney Spears has thanked Miley Cyrus for sending her the most "awesome" birthday balloons.

The Toxic singer celebrated her 34th birthday on Wednesday (02Dec15) and posted an adorable series of snaps on Instagram sharing moments from her special day. In one of them the pop star is seen standing with her sons Sean, 10, and Jayden, nine - who she has with ex-husband Kevin Federline - along with some close friends. Above their heads are giant silver balloons spelling out Britney's name, which are thought to have been a gift from Miley.

"Had the CUTEST surprise party today!!!" Britney excitedly captioned the shot. "A special thank you to Miss Miley Cyrus for sending these awesome balloons!"

Britney also posed for a picture in a grey, monkey onesie leaning forward over a gorgeous white cake, complete with bunting and a tea cup decoration. The blonde beauty couldn't contain her smile for the sweet snap, and thanked her fans for their well wishes.

"Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes!" she gushed. "I loved reading them just as much as I loved my teacup cake."

It wasn't just her sons who joined in the celebrations; Britney's dad Jamie, who has been her conservator since her troubles in 2008, was photographed holding up a big fish after a successful fishing trip. And it seems his catch of the day would be part of Britney's birthday feast, with the star writing: "My daddy caught a big one! #HappyBirthdayToMe"

It's been a busy time for the musician as of late, as she's recently headed back into the studio to record new music. While there has been no news on a release date, fans are eagerly anticipating their idol's new material.

Along with this she is still performing as part of her Piece of Me Las Vegas residency at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood.
