Broadchurch helps ITV to top award

The success of crime thriller Broadchurch helped ITV win the Channel of the Year award at this year's Edinburgh Television Festival.

Channel Breakthrough of the Year went to Channel 4 for its disability awareness following its coverage of the Paralympics.

The firm behind The Voice and Who Do You Think You Are, Wall to Wall, was named Production Company of the Year.

The award for Programme Innovation went to Channel 4's The Undateables, and Broadchurch won the New Programme award with its writer, Chris Chibnall, named the Industry Standout Talent of the Year.

The show has been a huge hit, with ITV ordering a second series.
