A Southern California insurance broker has denied defrauding Hollywood star Tom Hanks and former lead guitarist of The Police Andy Summers.

The US attorney's office said Jerry Goldman was arrested yesterday at his Thousand Oaks home in California and released from federal custody on a 25,000-dollar (£15,700) bond posted by his wife.

A federal grand jury in Los Angeles indicted him on October 30 on fraud charges.

Prosecutors claim he overcharged Hanks, Summers, 69, and two others by around 800,000 dollars (£503,000) on insurance premiums, inflating some premiums by as much as 600%.

Details have not been released, but the indictment refers to insurance policies covering everything from worker's compensation to fine art.

Calls seeking comment from the celebrities' representatives were not immediately returned.

A trial date has been set for December 18.

Gemini:

You never do anything in moderation. Attend every fun party, accept every juicy offer and try all the delectable treats spread before you. Avoid unpleasant people and activities like the plague. This should be a time of enjoyment. Leave your list of chores at home. You can always attend to these jobs at another time. If you have a chance to show your creative work to a publisher, manager or agent, go ahead. This is also a great opportunity to go on job interviews, auditions and first dates.More
