Brooker to host weekly topical show

Charlie Brooker has a new BBC Two show

Charlie Brooker is returning to BBC Two with a new topical show.

The six-part series, with a working title of Weekly Wipe with Charlie Brooker, will see the satirical comic joined in the studio with celebrity guests as they examine the week's events.

Charlie said: "Every week we'll be looking at TV, games, 'things in the ether', the online world, and anything and everything in-between. And if we need to pad the show out a bit, we'll probably review egg whisks too."

Regular contributor US comic Doug Stanhope will also return to the show and Charlie will also present an hour-long round-up of the year this Christmas that will take in the Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics and the US election.

Executive producer Chris Sussman said: "Charlie Brooker's 2011 Wipe was BAFTA-nominated. More has happened in 2012, so this time we'll definitely win."

Charlie recently wrote hit shows A Touch of Cloth and Black Mirror for Sky1 and Channel 4.

He is married to former Blue Peter presenter Connie Huq.
