Burke Charvet bans 'fat' around kids

Brooke Burke Charvet

Brooke Burke Charvet has banned herself from discussing dieting around her kids.

The host of America's Dancing with the Stars catapulted to fame thanks to her incredibly fit physique.

But she has forbidden talk about restricting calories to set a good example for her four children.

"I try to never use words like 'fat' or 'diet,' " she told People magazine.

"I try to choose my words carefully with my kids. It's just about making good choices and enjoying what we eat and making delicious flavourful foods that are healthy."

Brooke shares two children, Rain, six, and Shaya, four, with her husband, French singer-and-actor David Charvet.

The 41-year-old beauty also has two older children, Neriah, 12, and Sierra, 10, from her first marriage to plastic surgeon Garth Fisher.

She said she is instead focusing on teaching them about being "healthy and strong" instead of being skinny.

Brooke hopes talking about the issue will help other parents to confront their body issues for the sake of their children.

"I always tell other parents to lead by example," she continued.

"My kids know I'm always working out and I love to cook. I'm always preparing healthy meals."

Brooke's remarks follow a very trying personal time for the star.

Last month she underwent a thyroidectomy after a malignant mass was found in her thyroid gland.

Now cancer-free, Brooke credits her husband and children with helping her to get through the disease.

Gemini:

This is a good time to establish a routine. Create a schedule that strikes a nice balance between your personal and professional lives. You're the type of person who needs plenty of intellectual stimulation outside of work. If you've been spending too much time at the office, reduce your hours. This may mean less money, but you can't put a price on happiness. You might even decide to take a job with unconventional hours so you can play sports or spend more time outdoors.More
