Burke Charvet recovering after thyroid surgery

Brooke Burke Charvet

Brooke Burke Charvet is recovering after undergoing thyroid cancer surgery.

The American model and television personality announced in November she had been diagnosed with the disease and would soon have a thyroidectomy to treat it.

The 41-year-old Dancing with the Stars host underwent the procedure on Wednesday.

Brooke took to Twitter today to update fans on her progress.

"I'm resting, recovering. Surgery went well. Dr Adashek is a genius. Thx Dr!" she wrote.

The former Maxim model and mother-of-four admitted she has a long road to recovery.

While she is trying to be upbeat, Brooke said she's feeling far from her best.

"Feels like I got hit (by) a car :( ", she confessed.

Brooke previously posted a photo of herself in her hospital gown before going under the knife.

She said her biggest fear was losing her voice. But now that she can talk she's focused on having a positive recovery.

"Thank God it's over," she added, telling fans, "Thx for all your prayers & light."

Brooke shares two daughters with her first husband, plastic surgeon Garth Fisher. She also has a son and a daughter with husband, French singer David Charvet.

The couple married in 2011.
