Alexandra Burke has said it might be nice for X Factor judge Simon Cowell to "try something new".
The chart star, who won the ITV1 competition in 2008, told Daybreak presenter Christine Bleakley it would be "weird" for the show to continue without Simon, but that she understood why he might want to move on.
The Sun reports that Simon is considering leaving the ratings-winner after the current series to focus on its US counterpart, which begins in September next year.
Alexandra said: "It's hard to really say when you don't know the facts of it and when you don't know if it's completely true but I say, it's always nice to maybe try something new.
"I come from that show so to have Simon Cowell not be there would definitely be weird so to speak".
The singer, who wore a skimpy lace leotard to perform her new single Start Without You on the breakfast show, also said she had been in touch with her former mentor Cheryl Cole, whose divorce from footballer Ashley Cole was finalised last week and who has been recovering from a bout of malaria.
She said: "She's doing a lot better now, she's very well and she's very happy."
