Bynes ‘improving daily’

Amanda Bynes mental health is reportedly improving with every day she spends in hospital.

The former child star’s representative confirmed Amanda is getting better at the mental illness facility where she is being treated for what is believed to be schizophrenia.

"Despite some reports, Amanda is improving daily and responding well," Jonathan Jaxson told Entertainment Tonight. "There is still a long road ahead, and that doesn't mean being confined to a locked-down treatment center.”

The 27-year-old star is being closely monitored by doctors but as yet there are no plans to discharge her from hospital.

Loved ones are hoping she will stick with a long-term care plan once her current enforced hospitalisation is over.

“Amanda is in the best hands presently, medically, and each day her condition is being monitored,” he continued. “There is not a set release date, but with the great track she is on presently, she will be out of a lockdown facility and continuing to recover elsewhere in the near future.”

Earlier in August Amanda's mother Lynn Bynes was granted temporary rights to her life decision and assets by a Ventura County, California judge. She currently retains control of Amanda’s estate and will have the final call on her medical care in addition to where she lives.

“Her parents love her dearly and still are hoping to continue conservatorship after September 30,” Amanda’s spokesperson added. “Mental illness is a serious problem in America, and while many go untreated, Amanda is responding and cooperating with doctors and staff quite well."

The actress was put on psychiatric hold after allegedly setting fire to a stranger's driveway.

She has also recently been involved in two hit-and-run driving incidents and has sent a number of bizarre Twitter posts which launched concern for her mental health.
